Cohabitation

Well, it is finally proven....if you cohabitate before marriage, you are more likely to divorce. The Christian realm that has promoted the pro-family movement has been saying for years that cohabitation which will lead to marriage will most likely lead to divorce. This study confirms that over half of first-time marriages of today are preceded by a live-in relationship.

My Tribute

I returned from my trip home to sad news, one of the greatest missionary leaders of the present day has gone to be with our Savior. Dr. Cal Guy’s influence has reached even me, though I never sat in his class or had his as my pastor or even had a deep theological discussion with him. Dr. Cal Guy was a distinguished professor at Southwestern Seminary and during his tenure here, he had Dr. Al Jackson as a student. While Al was under the teaching of Dr. Guy, he inherited a burden for the lost, especially those who have never been exposed to the Gospel. Al was my pastor when I was a member at Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, AL. I never really understood missions and the call that God has given to all of us to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth until I sat under the preaching and teaching of this protégé of Dr. Guy. From the Holy Spirit through Al Jackson, I began to be burdened for the lost and began to have a passion for the nations to know Him.

Here is a touching article that was released from the seminary that explains how Dr. Guy was used by God to bring Him glory and to advance His Kingdom. Here is an excerpt from the article that explains Dr. Guy’s work in India. William Carey was the first missionary to India over 200 years ago, but the Indian people had not been teaching the Word, that is until Cal Guy came along.

He discovered that of 15 churches that had been started in the area since Carey’s time, only one still survived. This led Guy into a three-decade relationship with Bangladesh Baptists during which time he put many of his teachings into practice.
For example, he arranged to have a booklet containing a Gospel presentation translated into the native language. Then he taught local Baptists how to introduce the book into villages by asking the village leaders to allow their children to read it to them. The result was an explosion of churches in the area.
“Just based on using the Gospels, it went from 15 dead churches to 600 infinitely reproducible ones,” Guy said.

Dr. Cal Guy is one of my heroes of the Faith. I am grateful to Him for allowing himself to be used by God. His life touched so many others and his legacy will live on well past his lifetime. If only you and I lived a life as full as Dr. Cal Guy, what would our world look like?

Ok, so I am back! Wahoo, what a whirlwind adventure around the southeast. I had a blast but I was not able to update while I was gone, sorry.

I do have some really good pictures to share with you all, but I left my camera in Tennessee. So sad! Dad is going to mail it to me this week, so I will post some pics later on.

Everything went well and I was able to see lots of family and friends. Everything has changed and nothing stays the same. Ugh, that is a little sad, but it is good too.

Stay tuned for some cool pics later this week hopefully!

The TWO aquariums in Chattanooga
I am going home! I am first going to Chattanooga, affectionately known as "the boogie". My dad and I are goin' fishin'!! I am sooo excited. He got a new boat recently and so we are gonna go catch us some fish ( I have to work on degrading my english as I am goin' to the mountain...just kidding dad). We are then going to cook out with my brother and granddad on Thursday.
The picture above is an excellent view of the new and old aquariums. The bigger one to the right is the old one and the one on the left is the new one. I believe the new on is a saltwater aquarium with sharks....ahhhh!

On Friday, my dad is going to take me to my other home in Athens. I will be staying with Denae there and there will be much fun going on. Athens is a wonderful place and I miss it dearly. There is no telling what will happen between the time that my dad drops me off and the time that I get on a plane in Huntsville. The Johnsons are so spontaneous and that is one of the things that I love about them. This will be a good time for us to catch up and to talk about all of the fun and new events and changes in our lives. We have much to talk about :)!!

So, to all of FW peeps...peace out...see you next week!

Riddle

The crying man riddle:
You whiz around the corner in your rented moped when suddenly you're forced to come to a sudden stop.
It seems a funeral procession has stopped for a quick breather. Empathy overwhelms you and you offer your condolences to the whimpering man nearby. "Were you close?" you ask, wishing you hadn't.
After a moment, the man replies, "Brothers and sisters I have none, that man's father is my father's son."
That sounds sarcastic, you think to yourself. Maybe the guy doesn't want to tell you, which is fine, but there's no reason to be a smart aleck about it.
Or, perhaps the clever among can see this is the real answer.

Let me know what you think the riddle means....

OH MY WORD!

Ok, I copied this directly from Jason's blog, "Sufficient Grace", so all props go to him, but I just couldn't resist sharing this with everyone.

I couldn't hardly believe my eyes when I read this story.

I couldn't help myself

This blog is going to be about none other than my Alma matter, Auburn University. My peers' blogs have sparked a desire in me to post about my favorite time of my life, which was in college. I am a graduate of Auburn from May of 2003. Please read on to learn about the "loveliest village on the plains".
Tiger VI
Waaaaar Eagle!! Is the cry that is heard from the fans in Jordan-Hare Stadium, alumni gatherings or as Auburn students greet each other. It is a symbol of the Auburn spirit and continues to bind Auburn men and women of all ages. Although several stories of Auburn’s battle cry have been passed down through the years, the true origin is anyone’s guess.

The most popular story dates back to the first time Auburn met Georgia on the football field in 1892 and centers around a spectator who was a veteran of the Civil War.
In the stands with him that day was an eagle the old soldier found on a battlefield during the war. He had kept it as a pet for almost 30 years. According to witnesses, the eagle suddenly broke free and began majestically circling the playing field. As the eagle soared, Auburn began a steady march toward the Georgia end zone for a thrilling victory. Elated at their team’s play and taking the bird’s presence as an omen of success, Auburn students and fans began to yell “War Eagle” to spur on their team

Tiger Walk

Tiger Walk began in the early 1960's. Fans line the streets to wish the Auburn football team well as they walk from the athletic dorms to the stadium on game day. The largest Tiger Walk is believed to have taken place before the 1989 Alabama game when more than 20, 000 fans participated.

Rollin' Toomer's

Toomer's Corner, where the campus meets the city of Auburn, has long been the gathering place for Auburn University athletic celebrations. After any significant victory, AU students and fans join to "roll" the trees with toilet tissue. Celebrations have lasted for hours and left the heart of town looking like a blizzard passed through.

Aubie!

Aubie, Auburn University's mascot tiger, first appeared as a cartoon character (rendered by artist Phil Neel) on the cover of home football programs in 1958. He was a huge hit with fans. In 1979, after color photographs had replaced Aubie on the program covers, AU student James Lloyd brought Aubie to life in a tiger costume at an SEC basketball tournament. His crazy antics and mischievous personality helped transform Aubie into the mascot we all love today.

A-Day

A-Day, A founder’s Day celebration is held each spring at Auburn University. As part of this celebration, the football team plays a scrimmage that gives Auburn fans a chance to preview the Tigers before the fall season. Fans come from all of over to see the A-day game.

Chick-fil-A is what helps me get through on Tuesdays. As many of you know, Tuesdays are long long long and very emotionally taxing. I have my counseling practicum for 4 1/2 hours on Tuesday night and it takes everything out of me.

The one bright and shining beacon on Tuesdays is when I get to eat lunch with my honey at Hulen Mall. Chick-fil-A is the best!!

Take a note from me....dont eat the buffalo sauce on your fruit, it is no good for the tummy!

Girl's Night

This was the second Friday night where we had a girl's night out and it was fabulous. Bodacious was stunning. We of course dressed in complimenting wardrobes (by the way Destiny's child stole that idea from us), so here is a picuture of our shoe collection. As you can tell from Jacki's blog, we were all wearing black shirts and jeans and black flip flops. We were the hottest girls group there. Tune into Jacki's blog for an account of the evening.

**I will give props to any non-bodacious member who can tell which feet belong to which bodacious member.

You're so hot right now!

Wow, I totally had to share this picture and story with everyone.

This is a picture of a guy who set himself on fire in order to propose to his girlfriend. As you can see, he set himself on fire and then stood on a platform and then jumped in the pool and then got out and got on one knee to propose. What an idiot!! But the bigger idiot was his girlfriend because she said yes!!! This was how he proposed: "Honey, you make me hot," he told his sweetheart, Malissa Kusiek. "I hope I'm getting the point across that I'm on fire for you."

Wow, people do stupid things.

Please don't tell Chris about this because I think he was planning on doing the same thing because in his truck I found all of these cans of gasoline and the phone number of the guy who did this. I had to confront him about it and it was not pretty.

Ok, so I figured out how to post pictures on here while I am at work....and I just thought that I had to share this one with everyone.

I have had London on my mind this morning because of all the terrorists attacks. This is a picture of me in front of Big Ben.

FYI....our office at the seminary and Emily have heard from Thomas and the Oxford group and everyone is doing fine and no one from that group was in London at the time of the explosion. I hope this puts your mind at ease, but please still be in prayer for our brothers and sisters who are in Britian at this time.

Doesn't this picture just make you want to take deep breath and let out a long sigh......

It does for me. I love this picture. It is taken from the dock of my friend Kelley's house in Jacksonville, FL. This is the intecoastal waterway. I am told that it runs all the way down to Miami. I had an absolutely fabulous time when I was in J'ville. It has all the perks of a beach town, but it is a place where you can actually live too and have a real life.

Hope you enjoy, have a peace-filled day!

Hey, watch this!!

So, I have a great story for you all. You know the best stories always begin with, “Hey watch this…”, well this one is no different.

The setting would be my apartment, late Sunday night. Chris’ youth group was leaving for Youth camp at midnight and we went up to his church to see them off. If you know me at all, you know that I get really tired late at night, which then leads into a high level of goofiness. This is what I was experiencing Sunday night. To preface the story you have to know that I hate bugs, any and all kinds. There are these bugs that are attracted to light here in Texas and they come out at night and gather under porch lights and especially in our laundry area downstairs when folks leave the light on. These bugs are a bronze/brown color and they have a really hard shell. I think they might can fly, but I am not sure. They actually don’t move a whole lot, they just sit there and be all buglike and stuff. Well, as we were walking out of my apartment door, I saw one of these creatures, so I decided that it must die. As soon as I walked through the door, I said to Chris, “Hey watch this!” and then proceeded to kick the bug as hard as I could so that it would fly through the railing of my balcony and plummet to its death. I thought it was pretty funny….until I turned around to see that my neighbors who live right beside me had some company, and they were on the balcony too!! So, they totally saw me make a fool of myself by kicking this bug off the balcony. For those of you that have never been to my apartment, you might not know that I have to walk right past my neighbor’s door in order to get downstairs, so I had to walk through this crowd of people that just saw me make a fool of myself. I about lost it! I could hardly contain my laughter. As soon as I walked past these people who had just gotten an eyeful of stupidness, I burst into laughter, as if they couldn’t hear me once I had passed by them! Ahhhh, I was so embarrassed! I couldn’t keep from laughing though. I was totally laughing at myself, which I hear is a good thing since I don’t take myself too seriously.

Thought you all might enjoy that good story of my retardedness.

You might be a redneck if.....

So, Emily out decided that we were going to lay by the pool a little while on Sunday afternoon after church. We laid by the pool on Saturday and about died of heat stroke, so we decided that it would be best to get a float so that we could stay in the pool and hopefully not get overheated. Good idea right?? Well, we thought so. We stopped by Wal-Mart after church and picked up two floats. When we returned to Emily's, we proceeded to blow up the floats with a pump. Well, Emily's blew up just fine. We started to blow up mine and it seemed ok, but as we were heading out the door, we could tell that it was deflating. We then discovered that my brand new float had a hole in it. Grrrr....stupid cheap float! So, Emily and I decided that the best thing for it was DUCK TAPE. Sounds like a great idea!!! We spent the next 20 minutes patching up the hole. Emily finally decided that she couldn't hear the hiss of the air escaping from the hole anymore, so we made our way to the pool. This was hilarious to us, so I thought I would share it with the rest of you.

Emily's Birthday

Emily's birthday was on Friday and so we decided to take her for a night on the town. This pic is at Mi Cocina, which is a really nice Mexican restaraunt in downtown Fort Worth. We had much fun here, but we had to scream the whole night because it was so loud in there.

After dinner, we went over to City Streets to show Fort Worth what real dancing looked like. We danced our feet off and had a blast doing it.

Hope you had a great birthday Em!!
