I couldn't help myself

This blog is going to be about none other than my Alma matter, Auburn University. My peers' blogs have sparked a desire in me to post about my favorite time of my life, which was in college. I am a graduate of Auburn from May of 2003. Please read on to learn about the "loveliest village on the plains".
Tiger VI
Waaaaar Eagle!! Is the cry that is heard from the fans in Jordan-Hare Stadium, alumni gatherings or as Auburn students greet each other. It is a symbol of the Auburn spirit and continues to bind Auburn men and women of all ages. Although several stories of Auburn’s battle cry have been passed down through the years, the true origin is anyone’s guess.

The most popular story dates back to the first time Auburn met Georgia on the football field in 1892 and centers around a spectator who was a veteran of the Civil War.
In the stands with him that day was an eagle the old soldier found on a battlefield during the war. He had kept it as a pet for almost 30 years. According to witnesses, the eagle suddenly broke free and began majestically circling the playing field. As the eagle soared, Auburn began a steady march toward the Georgia end zone for a thrilling victory. Elated at their team’s play and taking the bird’s presence as an omen of success, Auburn students and fans began to yell “War Eagle” to spur on their team

Tiger Walk

Tiger Walk began in the early 1960's. Fans line the streets to wish the Auburn football team well as they walk from the athletic dorms to the stadium on game day. The largest Tiger Walk is believed to have taken place before the 1989 Alabama game when more than 20, 000 fans participated.

Rollin' Toomer's

Toomer's Corner, where the campus meets the city of Auburn, has long been the gathering place for Auburn University athletic celebrations. After any significant victory, AU students and fans join to "roll" the trees with toilet tissue. Celebrations have lasted for hours and left the heart of town looking like a blizzard passed through.

Aubie!

Aubie, Auburn University's mascot tiger, first appeared as a cartoon character (rendered by artist Phil Neel) on the cover of home football programs in 1958. He was a huge hit with fans. In 1979, after color photographs had replaced Aubie on the program covers, AU student James Lloyd brought Aubie to life in a tiger costume at an SEC basketball tournament. His crazy antics and mischievous personality helped transform Aubie into the mascot we all love today.

A-Day

A-Day, A founder’s Day celebration is held each spring at Auburn University. As part of this celebration, the football team plays a scrimmage that gives Auburn fans a chance to preview the Tigers before the fall season. Fans come from all of over to see the A-day game.

Emily, that is the age old question at Auburn. That is why we UGA fans pray for the War Tiggles.

Hey Bonnie,
Did you hear about the tragedy that happened at Auburn? Yeah, the library burned down. The real tragedy is that both coloring books burned up too! What will those war tigglets do to advance their studies now?

Emily, if you would have read my blog your question would have already been answered.

Chris, shut it!

Jason, thanks for sticking up for me even though you did it in such a way that you still tried to make fun of me.
