Update requested

Sorry for the delay in updating. Jacki is putting us all to shame with her constant updating.

Let's see, what is new......

Well, it is that time of year again where everyone's stress level goes up several notches. That's right....FINAL EXAM TIME!! Wahoo! I love the feeling right after finals. It is such a feeling of freedom and release. I hate the feelings during exams though, but I always have to tell myself that what happens during exam time will most likely not effect me six months from now. So there, I hope that helps.

I am going to a Rangers game tonight and I get to see the Bo Sox play. I am so excited about getting this opportunity and I am so grateful for this night out. Stay tuned for pics from the game.....

Oh yeah, and the really big news.....I got a new job!! And I love it! I now work with some of the nicest people I have ever met. I am so honored to have this opportunity to work with such a wonderful staff. I wont be able to take as many classes as I am now, but I know that God is sovereign and He will guide me in all areas.

So, I hope all is well with you readers of this awesome blog.

Peace out

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

More Shane and Shane

This song blessed me this morning as I was getting ready for work. The Lord really reminded me of what my focus should be.

Is this the cry of your heart???

You Said

You Said
Ask and you will receive
Whatever you need
You said
Pray and I’ll hear from heaven
And I’ll heal your land
I’ll heal your land

You said
Your glory will fill the earth
Like water the seas
You said
Lift up your eyes
The harvest is here
The Kingdom is near

You said
Ask and I’ll give the nations to you
O Lord, that’s the cry of my heart
Distant shores and the islands
Will see Your light
As it rises on us

O Lord that’s the cry of my heart
Distant shores and the islands
Will see Your light
As it rises on us

“All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.” Psalm 86:9

It's a beautiful day

Ah, what a beautiful day in the neighborhood! I had a wonderful day at church because my Sunday school substitute teacher brought the Word and he brought it with passion. He did a wonderful job of filling Mr. Rogers’ shoes. Our group went to Trinity Park for lunch and had a good round of football, my favorite pastime. But most of all, the beautiful weather reminded me once again of a more serious life goal that I have, which is to own a Corvette. I know, I know some say mustangs are better, but hey some people like syrup on their waffles and some don’t, it is just a matter of preference. So, I have searched the web to find a picture for you all to enjoy.

P.S. if you want to know my real life goal, click here …..I want to try all of these.

This is a picture of one of the most beautiful baseball stadiums that I have ever been to. This is the home of the Frisco Rough Riders, they are a minor league team affiliated with the Texas Rangers. This stadium had many of the luxuries of a major league park but was small enough that every seat was a good seat.

There were many sights to see at this ballpark, such as: pastors doing a monkey dance, kids with big red cowboy hats, decorated WOMEN’S bathrooms, fireworks, singing cowboys, a horse, a freaky looking mascot, and much much more. My advice to you all is to find an alternate route to getting to this stadium than going on the toll way because it costs $1.75 to go about 20 miles on the freeway, but I have heard that it pays to pay. So, the choice is yours.

I had such a great time during this fun excursion to this baseball game and I would advise you all to check out this stadium.

Ok children, this is our passage for today!
Romans 8:28
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

One of my esteemed professors went over this passage yesterday in class and I cant get it out of my mind. He looked at this passage in a whole new way for me. He broke the passage down into parts and I would like to try and do that here.

First of all, the passage says that “all things” are to work for the good. Sometimes it is hard for us to grasp that God is the owner of ALL THINGS. Professor said “What is included in all things?” Class replied, “ALL THINGS”. Why is this hard for us to grasp? Maybe we don’t get that God cares for the big and the small, the significant and the insignificant. You see, anything and everything that pertains to His children is significant to God. So, why don’t we pray, evangelize, and live our lives as if God owns everything??

Some may ask if suffering, natural disasters, and crises work for good. Some may construe this passage and say that suffering is good, and that is an incorrect interpretation. God does not want us to suffer, but He does want us to be holy and righteous and He will do anything in order for us to become more like Him. So in effect, suffering is not good, but the consequences that come from suffering are good. In our weakness, He is strong. So, when we suffer we are completely and utterly dependant upon Him, and so He gets all of the glory and not us, and that IS GOOD!!

I have a story to illustrate this point. There was a lady in a Bible study that I was in recently and she had lost her teenage daughter several years ago. Through this death, her daughter’s organs were given to patients who would have died without the transplant. This woman has very special relationships with all of her daughter’s organ recipients. She expressed in this Bible study that she had trouble with this verse because she couldn’t see how her suffering through the pain of her daughter’s death was for good. My Bible study facilitator explained to her that her suffering was not good and it was never intended to be good, but several lives were saved out of the situation from her suffering and that was GOOD!

So, I guess what I learned and I hope that you will also grasp from this passage is to realize that God can use our suffering for good. James tells us that we are to consider it joy when we suffer. He says that we are to do this because it brings about perseverance and helps us to gain character. So, we know that we are called to suffer, but don’t let it end there. Allow God to use the trials in our lives for GOOD! Once we realize that God ultimately will use ALL THINGS for GOOD, and then maybe our burdens and trials won’t seem so difficult.
