Shane and Shane
Ok, so I am trying to find out how to post a link so that you can hear some of Shane and Shane's music. I would just like to say that I absolutely, 100% love Shane and Shane. My first experience with hearing Shane and Shane was actually my 21st birthday. They came to play a concert at my church in Auburn (not for my birthday, it just happened to be on that day), and I was completely captivated. Since then, I have heard them in Auburn numerous times, at One Day, in Fort Worth, and in Memphis.
The most amazing thing is that every time these men step on stage they make sure that everyone within earshot knows that they are stepping into the presence of the Lord to worship Him alone and that is the sole reason for their music. They are not up there for fame and they are incredibly humble men. I believe that is one of the reasons that God has blessed these men and their careers.
One of the best examples of how humble these men are and how their sole purpose is to worship the Lord and to lead others in worship is how they perform their last song. They have a lot of fun and upbeat songs, but some of their best songs are the slow ones because they really help you to be still and to come into the presence of the King. The last song that they sing is always slow and very worshipful and so most people find themselves with their eyes closed or kneeling in worship. The song always ends up with the whole of the audience singing acappella and when the song is over and everyone opens their eyes, they see that the stage is empty. WOW!! Most music artists end their concerts with a big bang and want applause from the audience, but not these guys. Their desire is for all of the focus to be on the Lord and not on them. What great role models they are!
Another incredible thing about their music is that most of their songs are pure Scripture. One of my favorite albums of theirs is the album "Psalms" and it is just that, psalms. There are such great theological truths in their songs. This could be another reason that God blesses their music because they are just singing His words.
Ok, so I hope that I have convinced you to go out and buy their new cd, "Clean". I have heard it and it is awesome! I do not own it yet, but I will after tomorrow because I get paid tomorrow :)

How much reality is enough?
Are our lives not interesting enough? Why do we feel the need to be entertained by someone else’s life? I am getting so tired of all this reality TV stuff. I do see both sides of the argument here. I know that watching a reality show gives you the experience to see things that happen that you would probably never be able to experience. I know that I will more than likely never be stranded on a deserted island with fifteen other people and have a chance to win a million dollars if I make it out there for six weeks. There are just some things that we don’t need to see though.
One thing that I have learned from watching reality TV shows ( and I do admit that I watch some of them) is that most of human nature is so corrupt. Our society teaches to us to fight for what we feel like we are entitled to no matter who we step on in the process. I know that we need to stand up for what we believe in, but for what price do others have to pay for our passions?
What is your opinion?? Share with me…..

I am so ready for summer
Ok, so I know it is only February, but I am so ready. We have had the most incredible weather the past few days and it has really made me start to think about summer. Being able to ride with the windows down has generated these thoughts and here are the reasons that I am ready:
- I can wear flip flops
- I can get a tan
- I can get pedicures and show it off
- I can wear capris
- I can wear flip flops
- baseball season
- Six Flags!!
- Possible trip to the beach
- I can wear flip flops
- I take less classes and work more, which means more $$
- My dad comes to visit
- It means college football season is only a few months away
- I usually get to go back to the southeast and see some of the most incredible
women in my life --> Jacque, Denae and Debbie
- did I mention the flops??
Are you ready for summer?? Let me know why or why not.

Laughter
What can you not get enough of?? Ah, yes it is good times and laughing. I love to laugh. I have been told recently that my laugh is rather loud, but nonetheless, I keep right on laughing. I remeber when I was little and my dad would tickle me, I would laugh until I couldnt breathe. That was so fun.
Yes, it is good to have deep conversations, but if you cant have humor in your life, then where is the excitement?? My opinion only of course. I noticed that our group can be a bit overwhelming last night. We had a girl join the church last night and she went out to dinner with us. I realize that we like to have fun and we cut up and joke around with one another constantly. This can be intimidating, but I hope that it makes people feel like they can really be themselves.
I really dont know where I would be without sarcasm. I love it! There has been lots more laughter in my life recently and I want to thank those that spend the most time with me for allowing me to be myself and just to be plain silly.
So, once again, thanks for the good times and always remember that you have Pedro's protection.

Ahhh...isn't this nice
The beach……ahhh I had to write about it since it was talked about so much last night. You know what I love about the beach, it always seems that life is slower and more peaceful there. I am always completely taken away by the vastness of God’s creation when I am there. I know that I can meet with my Savior anywhere, but it always seems that I am closer to Him when I am in such greatness of His creation. I love the sand between my toes and how the most stressful thing you do all day when you are at the beach is decide where you want to eat dinner. I have always said that I want to live in a shack on the beach, but would life be the same if I actually lived there as it is when I visit there? I want to say yes, but I know that careers and family would soon take over the peacefulness, but at least I could sit out by the water every night to get rid of the stress. Ummm….the beach, it makes me feel relaxed just thinking about it.
The next two pictures are pics from Pensacola Beach, FL. I don’t think I can put both pics on the same blog, so there might be two blogs of pics. This is one of my favorite beaches and I wish I was there now….....

Things that make you go ummmmm…….
- breakfast with friends that I met on another continent
-answering questions correctly when called on in class
-lunch with a good friend
-make-out cd’s
-being told I swim like a fish (is that a compliment?)
-studying at Starbucks
-the fact that you can get a salad instead of fries with your Wendy’s meal
- finding out the truth and realizing I am better off
- missions week at school and God renewing my passion for the international mission field
- good “stories” in chapel
Thanks friends for the good times…..
What is it going to take?
My recent posts have been very silly, so I am going to try and make this one a little more thoughtful. The picture below was taken this summer in St. Andrews, Scotland. The ruins that you see used to be what we would call today a “mega church”. All that is around and in it today is death. The walls are mostly gone and now it is just a tourist attraction of something that used to be great. As I was there, many people were relating what has happened to “the church” in England to what is happening to our churches today. Some people take it too far and get a little too drastic, but the lesson stands alone. What are we doing today to make sure that the gospel of Jesus Christ is spread to the lost and to make sure that our churches don’t end up like this church in Scotland. I know there is probably a story behind why the church is in ruins today, but how far away are we from something like this happening to our churches in America? We know for sure that there is death outside of our churches, but I can also see that there is death inside our churches as well. I heard someone say the other day that we have gone longer in our lifetime without having a great revival/awakening than in any other time in history. What is it going to take to have another awakening? What is required of us to make this happen?
Something to chew on……

Randomness
So, I was driving out to Newark to Emily's daycare and I got hit on while I was driving. That is like twice this week. Do I have some essence of hotness that is just oozing from me this week? I was driving on the interstate and I passed this guy in a Maxima and he followed me!! I got off the interstate to go to Emily's daycare and he exited with me! He started to drive next to me with this big ole smile on his face. I tried not to look but he was so good looking. He tried to get me to pull over so I could talk to him or something. He kept giving me this "come hither" look. It was so funny. After a few minutes of me laughing at him and telling him no, he finally backed off. So anway, maybe I just passed up the chance to meet the man of my dreams. But do I really want the man of my dreams to be someone that I met on the interstate?? Oh well, the opportunity is gone now and it is good for a laugh.
Peace

Brownies, mmmmmm
Ok, so it is not fair that I am sitting at work by myself and the rest of bodacious is sitting in a nice warm apartment eating yummy brownies and drinking milk. This is way beyond unfair. I think that true friends would get off their tail and bring me some brownies, even if it is snowing. All I have to do now is make it through the next two and a half hours with no chocolate substance and no human interaction because there are not hardly any people staying in our guest housing. How sad is this. Wait a second.....I am getting paid to sit here and study. That is not a bad deal at all. Ok, so now I am happy because i know that I am blessed.
So, lets keep talking about brownies cause that it is fun. I like them with nuts. They are best when they are right out of the oven and they are all warm and moist. There is this certain kind you can make that has extra chocolate fudge stuff in the middle. Ummm those are really good. I dont like them with caramel or if they have a kind of white chocolate mixed in. They have to be straight up milk or dark chocolate. Umk, so I cant have any, so I am going to stop now. Alright, do you feel like going to Walmart and getting a Duncan Hines box of brownie mix? If so, give me a call and we can have a brownie party.
Peace out
