The Queen of Women's Basketball!

I know you were all sitting on the edge of your seats in anticipation for me to post a picture of Coach Summitt, so here ya go.....

This a picture of Coach Summitt and her son after the Lady Vols won the SEC championship!

Way to go girls!!

Take 'em home Summitt

Ok, so everyone knows that I am an Auburn fan, but what many don’t know, and many don’t understand, is that I am a University of Tennessee fan as well. I know some say that you can’t cheer for both of these teams because they are both in the SEC, but you know what……I am gonna do it anyway!

You see, I was born in Tennessee and grew up a Tennessee fan. My family has had (and still has) season tickets to the Vols football games for over thirty years. My blood runs orange. Well, when I was about fifteen, by blood started to run a slightly different shade of orange. When I started high school, my dad and I moved to Alabama. Upon moving to the state of Alabama, the officials stop you at the border and make you declare your allegiance to either the University of Alabama Crimson Tide or Auburn University’s Tigers. Since I had grown up a Vols fan, we had an immense hatred for Bama, so I chose Auburn. Who knew that I would end up attending Auburn University and falling in love with the school and their traditions.

So, all this to say that I have a strong loyalty to Auburn because I am an alumnus, but I also have a loyalty to Tennessee because I have been going to UT games since I was two years old ( I still have the ticket). So don’t judge me for rooting for both of these teams.

So, now to the exciting news…..My lady Vols are going to the Final Four!!! I love UT girls’ basketball because I love Pat Summitt. When I was younger, I always wanted to play for the Lady Vols. It did not take me long to realize that I am vertically challenged, I have no concept of agility, and I am incredibly slow. So, I have submitted to my incapableness as a basketball player and have settled to be a spectator.

This will be Pat Summitt’s sixteenth time to take the Lady Vols to the final four. We are definitely headed for the championship and I have no doubt that she will lead them to victory. She is one of the greatest coaches of all time and she will be my favorite for years to come.

Go Big Orange!!

Baseball

Ok, it is almost Baseball season. Spring training is nearly over and the regular season starts soon!

Even though my favorite team, The Braves, are going to rock this season, we still need to support the home team, The Rangers. Click here for The Rangers schedule. Their opening game is April 11th.

Who is going to join me??

Thanks for all of your prayer support for my meeting this past Monday. Unfortunately, the situation will not be resolved for some time. I am sort of in a waiting period. This could be a good thing because God can truly show me if He really wants me to make this big change in my life. Thanks again!!

Does anyone seem to have one of those yukky weeks?? Everything is going great but it just feels like there is something out of place or something is wrong. That is the week that I have been having. Everything is moving along smoothly right now, but there is just something inside of me that is nagging at me. I know that I am not very fun to be around right now, but I just cant seem to figure it out. One of my favority songs has been ringing in my ears lately and the only words I can remember are "Dont let the clouds of tomorrow steal the sunshine of today, No more living in sin and sorrow for what hasnt come my way". This has been a testimony for me this week since I have been in this cruddy mood. So, I hope that if you ever have one of these weeks you can let these words encourage you as they have encouraged me.

Peace out and Have a great celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord!!

bonnie and Kelley

This is me on Jacksonville Beach. We had two beautiful days at the beach and a couple of pretty days by the pool. FYI, I want to move to Jacksonville, so if anyone is interested in getting a house together, let me know!! This is truly a great city and it is big enough to have all the fun stuff that a big city offers, but it has a small town feel to it as well.

Back in TX

So, I am back in Texas and the first thing that hit me when I got off the plane was a COLD blast of air! I couldn’t believe it….going from eighty degrees and sunny to forty degrees and freezing. Not a change I like. But…..I was greeted in Baggage claim by some of the best friends a person could have. Thanks Emily, Thomas, and Mo!! I am still shakin it!

I don’t really have a whole lot to say because I am so sleepy. I am currently at work and fighting to stay awake. I do have a prayer request…..I am seeking God’s will in a big situation that will affect my life drastically. The Lord has put an urgency in my heart to make a change and I need to know that this “idea” is from Him. So, I ask for your prayer support. This situation has come on fast and will be formulating on Monday. Thanks for your prayers and I will let you know how it goes.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and we will definitely be hanging out all weekend, so give us a call!!

Casa de Touchton

Ok, so today is my last real day in Florida and it is totally cloudy and cold! Gosh!! I cant complain though, I have had such an awesome time here and it was just what I needed. I should have been doing some major reading for school, but that didnt happen and I am coming to grips with that. I really needed some down time, and the Touchtons were gracious enough to offer their home for me to do that. I just want to give a shout out to them and let them know how much I have appreciated their hosptitality.

And for all of you faithful blog viewers, there will be pictures of their PHAT house very soon. I am telling you, if you ever need to go on vacation, you can come to this resort that they call home.

My greatest accomplishment for this trip was getting Kelley set up on the blog circle and while doing that I found out that my new friend Troy has a blog as well. So, feel free to browse their sites.

I will see most of you when I get back to Texas, and for those of you I dont see regularly, have a great week and let me hear from you!!

Peace Out

(ps Emily, I started the peace out phrase on this blog circle!! :-P )

Let me know what you think.....

Coke or Pepsi

Beef or Chicken

Walmart or Target

Beach or Mountains

Speed limit or Speed demon

Chocolate or Vanilla

Taco Bell or Pizza Hut

Country or Rock

Paris or Rome

The point is that we are so blessed that we can have it all. You can go to Walmart AND Target. We can listen to country and rock music with just a click of a button. WOW, we have got it so good. Take a moment to sit back and think of all the choices that we can make and it is ok to change your mind, especially for women because it is our prerogative. Do you know that you are blessed, do you act like it?? I know I should live like I know I am blessed more......

Hope this made you think.

Peace out

To my peeps

Ok, so I am a girl so it is alright for me to be mushy every once and a while, right?? Well, if you don’t agree, then stop reading right now….

I want to take time out to say how grateful I am for all that God has done in my life in the past year. Many of you know that my first year at seminary was really tough. All throughout high school and especially college, I have been surrounded with close friends. I never didn’t have something going on and was constantly busy and social. That changed drastically when I moved to seminary. I was in a church where there was NO ONE my age and so I spent many weekend nights alone in my apartment. How sad L I didn’t realize it until I got out of that situation just how miserable I was. Being alone was a very new situation for me.

My life is so much different now though. I have some very special people in my life who make my day brighter with their laughter and smiles. It thrills my heart when these special people take time out of their lives to come and hang out with me at work. The time that we have together means the world to me. I think that God put me through the tough times of my first year at seminary so that I would appreciate this time so much more. I know what it is like to be without social contact and so the time that I have with these special people is so rewarding.

I have tried to tell these special peeps in the past couple of days just how much they mean to me and how much joy they add to my life, but I really wanted you to know where I was coming from and why you are so special to me.

So, thanks for going over your minutes to talk to me on your phone, thanks for hanging out with me after I get off work on Friday nights, thanks for Saturday lunches, thanks for pool, thanks for being my sounding board, thanks for allowing me into the best girl band/group around, thanks for Chik-fil-A, thanks for Valentines Day dinners, thanks for watching movies at my apt., thanks for making me laugh, thanks for the sarcasm, and most of all THANKS FOR BEING MY FRIEND!!

War of sin

I have commented on Shane and Shane before, but this post is going to be dedicated to one of their new songs. I have said before that they base their songs straight from Scripture.

This song is based on Philippians 3:7-8 “But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ…”

Please read the lines of this song and see how you can relate to these words.

WAGING WAR

It haunts me so
This gloomy weight
That comes and goes
Without a trace
A thousand times my flesh embrace
A thousand more but if for grace

To see the Lord the promise land
‘Where in all sins pearly gates look bland
And what was once a pearl now sand
That blows away in light of Him

When battle lines become unclear
And the waging war is all I hear
Lord, sustain me with Your voice
And the choice to walk in truth

That I might see this day
This waging war might go away
and be no more
That I might see His face
And hear Him say
Son welcome home
The war is over

To see the Lord, the promise land
‘Where in all sins pearly gates look bland
And what was once a pearl now sand
That blows away
That blows away
That blows away in light of Him
Oh go away
Go away
Go away in light of Him
Blow away, o waging war of sin
