Well, words will not even be able to describe the evening that I had last night. Chris signed us up to go to Fire Mountain Grill (sort of like Golden Corral) to eat with the Deacons and staff of his church for their Christmas party. So, we both thought it would be a relatively quiet, low-key evening. On the way to the restaraunt, Chris tells me that he heard there would be entertainment. I thought that was sort of interesting and I was anxious to see what type of entertainment it would be. Well, after we had all finished eating, the chairman of the deacons goes to the front of the room and pushes a button on the sound system and starts this intro music. We are all looking around at each other in confusion, and in the door walks.....Elvis. That is right, at Chris' FBC Crowley's Deacon and Staff Christmas party, we had an Elvis impersonator. Wow. So, he is immediately going up to all the different ladies in the room and seranading them as they all, including me, turn a deep color of red as the result of embarassment. He could immediately tell that we were going to be a difficult crowd to get to loosen up. He tries to get many of the ladies to get up and dance with him, many refuse, some concede but only sway back and forth without moving their feet at all. Then, the best part of the evening is when Elvis calls out one of the Deacons and tells him that he has to be one of his backup singers. This of course causes us all to gasp and then laugh uncontrollably. This deacon that he calls out is Chris' boss at the Seminary, so Chris makes the comment "Oh please someone have a camera!", then of course as if Chris had set up Elvis for the perfect serve, he says to Chris, "Well, you are coming with him". So, yes, last night my handsome boyfriend was a backup singer to an Elvis impersonator, along with three deacons from his church. All they had to do was snap their fingers on beat and sing one line of "I am all shook up". I will regret to the day I die that I did not have a camera!! If I had of known that there was going to be entertainment, I so would have brought my camera, I could kick myself! Then of course, Elvis had the pastor and the youth minister get up there and participate in a competition to see who could do the best Elvis moves. The pastor totally hammed it up, and of course his wife was mortified! Elvis told them that they werent even going to vote because the youth minister must have gone to the White boy school of rythm and he didnt want to embarass him anymore. Chris kept saying on the way home, "What just happened?" We were in complete shock that we had just witnessed an Elvis impersonator. Wow.
